I needed to close out a permit from several years ago. At first this appeared overwhelming. When I contacted the County via email I received several email responses from multiple people in the permitting department. It appears each one of them was forwarded my initial email so they each could assist on their specific portion of the permit. All of them were very fast to respond and provided detailed instructions on how I needed to proceed. This saved me a great deal of time. They were all very helpful, knowledgeable, competent and very rapid to respond to all my emails. They made this difficult task very easy. Accela software leaves a lot to be desired with great difficulty getting assistance for deficiencies. Getting through to someone for help is like pulling teeth because of the automated phone system that goes on and on and on. Then your are in a que that might get answered or disconnected after waiting for a while. Oh for the days of someone actually answering a phone call!! Unfortunately, building department personnel seem to hid behind Accela or other software and automated phone systems. This allows typical low production of civil "servant" positions.

With all the negative reviews, I wanted to add my very positive experience with Misty in the permitting department. She was amazing. We have a very short window to get an inspection and are rarely home as we work over the road. Misty scheduled our inspection for the only day available to us, emailed the inspector that it had to be a morning inspection, gave me his contact info and told me to text him the Sunday before the inspection. Best customer service experience I've had in a long, long time. Big thanks to Misty! You're awesome!!

Would give 0 stars if I could. I have been trying to get setbacks for a particular property and Frederick Humberstone is useless, and won’t answer the questions directly, and won’t respond to emails. If you live in Pasco county, this is what your tax paying dollars goes towards and if I was you I would not accept this kind of behavior. Absolutely the worst building dept in Fl. On top of that it depends if your west Pasco or east Pasco, because this is the only building dept that has different rules depending if your east or west. Should close down and let a private company run this, because it’s clear the county does not know or care what they are doing.
