Bought a Fourth Element Proteus II wetsuit from Living Oceans and after one dive in Alor, the stitching came loose and the seams at the wrist started unravelling.

Now, I’ve owned multiple wetsuits from ScubaPro, Gull etc. Had them for a few years and did many dives with them in Komodo and Raja Ampat and this has never happened. But what happened to this Fourth Element wetsuit is just unacceptable. And it costs $700… Double that of other wetsuits!

Feature wise, the Proteus II with its hydrolock body shield is good, but its durability earns it a big ZERO. Brought it back to the shop and explained what happened but they refused to honour the warranty. The store manager said he can’t ascertain for sure that it is due to a manufacturing defect. Now if after ONE dive and the stitches come undone, if that isn’t a manufacturing defect, I don’t know what is. Am extremely disappointed with the way this has gone, especially for what is supposedly a premium product with a premium price!

Very friendly and has in depth knowledge about diving and equipment. Ash is usually in the shop so he’s the person to go to if you have any doubts or questions about diving or equipment. Each has to decide if it’s worth it or not. Personally, I would still buy things from their shop because the quality of their equipment is top notch. Coupled with the service, I can understand the premium that I’m paying. Tucked in a quiet corner of an old building nestled in the bustling part of town. Always a nice experience to shop there.
