My husband has desperately tried to get an appointment with Dr. Sutherland for over 5 years now. They book appointments out for over a year, then within the 30 days of the appointment they call to schedule an appointment for the following year saying no you don’t have an appointment we don’t hold appointments for a year. I’m loosing my husband to Parkinson’s. Why are you doing this for the 5th time, why? I hope Dr. Sutherland reads his reviews if he doesn’t then maybe this is a blessing in disguise.

This is more about Dr. Sutherland's office staff than the Dr, who unfortunately has no appointments available for almost a year. And Dr. Sutherland only sees patients "in the morning". Sadly, he is not flexible and compassionate about the complexities of this disease to force patients to get out early in the morning. My husband has MSA, which is a form of Parkinson's. The person who answered the phone refused at first to allow my husband to see Dr. Sutherland because she said he only sees patients with Parkinson's. I had to explain to her several times what MSA was, and she suggested we make an appt for my husband with a neuromuscular Dr. because she did not believe me when I said MSA was a form of Parkinson's. She had to put me on hold, and check with someone else, then said it was ok to make an appt with Dr. Sutherland without apologizing for her mistakes. Shameful office filled with robotic uncaring people.

I was diagnosed with Parkinson's 5 years ago in South Carolina. I have been seeing Dr Sutherland for 3 years. He has been great. He is really interested in how I am doing.

I was excited to meet and become a patient of Dr Dean Sutherland. He was recommended by a friend whose husband knew and was seeing him. First appointment was good and we seemed to be making ground until he started to Gaslight me around my symptoms. I have Long Covid which has caused some secondary autoimmune diseases. I was told I’m “anxious “ and need counseling. After a few tests that came up inconclusive, he dismissed me as a patient. He couldn’t be bothered to do any research on Long Covid and its effects. His bedside manner is awful and his listening skills even worse. I’ve since been diagnosed with Dysautonomia/POTS, FND, ME/CFS, and PEM between my cardiologist and new Neurologist. The last appointment I had with him (mind you I’m disabled, walk with a cane or need a wheelchair) is when we came back from I trip from Utah and he asked if we went skiing. Clueless!

Dr Sutherland has been treating me for 4 years for my essential tremors and dbs surgery I had. He is very friendly. Takes his time and I don’t have to wait long. He has a great DBS Programer (Shre) who helps him adjust my controller. I would highly recommend him for a neurologist

Dr Sutherland is an inexperienced hack who will only handle cases that are easy. He did not help my wife one bit and seemed to have had a disbelief in her condition. He is heartless and doesn’t care to go the extra mile for a patient. My wife was in tears after every visit because he is so unprofessional!

We were fortunate to get an appointment with Dr. Sutherland last Thursday, after seeing two neurologists who did not met our needs, he was a refreshing find.
He is an amazing communicator. You could have a dialogue and he listened to what you had to say and used that input as part of making his conclusions about treatment. He understood that my husband was experiencing two different problems where two other neurologists ignored our concerns.
He really made us feel that he cared about my husband and wanted to do whatever he could to improve his quality of life.
He has a curious mind and asks lots of questions and then gives practical solutions to the answers. He knows so much about Parkinson’s, which is not always the case with a neurologist. He supports his patients, for example, he has a foundation which works as a support group for Parkinson’s patients so they may be educated in the disease, find resources to empower both family members and patients. We are attending a free Zoom seminar next Saturday to become more knowledgeable.
He has an amazing manner when you met with him. He is kind and caring. I cannot say enough about him. I feel so blessed that we found him and were able to get an appointment. We feel like a huge burden has been removed from us.

I am very happy and feeling hopeful after seeing Dr. Sutherland. He has taken the time to understand what might be going on. Very friendly and walked out both appointments not feeling dismissed. I had my first trial at Botox in my one arm before proceeding to my other and my shoulder. I know both of my hands have been equally difficult to use. So I was able to compare the treated arm vs the one without Botox. I truly feel a difference I’ve been hoping for for so long. I’m very grateful for even the smallest percentage of relief and functionality.
